Inspired by the naturally formed pothole formations in the old basalt river bed at Interstate National Park in Taylor's Fall, MN. The potholes were formed over 10,000 years ago from the glaciers melting. Sand and gravel got caught in giant swirling eddies and wore holes into the basalt riverbed. Then large rocks also became caught and helped carve, round and smooth out the walls of the potholes. Some of the potholes are tiny while others are huge. The largest accurately measured being 60 feet deep and 12 feet wide and another with an unknown depth suspected of being at least 80 feet deep. Interstate Park contains more potholes in a smaller area than any other location in the world and also has the deepest.
